Two Drug and Alcohol Recovery Centers; One Vision
Mark Houston has been working in the drug and alcohol industry for 19 years and has made a name for himself by providing effective recovery options (instead of treatment) for the continued success of men who are seeking a drug and alcohol recovery program to help them realize a life of permanent sobriety.
Mark Houston Recovery (MHR) is a gender-specific drug and alcohol rehab center for men located in the hill country of Texas. Mark Houston is also pleased to be able to offer a gender specific option for women who are seeking help with drug and alcohol addiction. The Mark Houston Recovery Center for Women is following in the footsteps of the gender specific all male program and its successful outcomes. The MHR Center for Women offers women the same outcome-driven program for women with the same components which include: gender-specific separate facilities, all male or all female staff; no nonsense approaches to drug and alcohol recovery, emphasis on ending enabling behaviors in family members, instilling disciplined recovery based habits and providing a long continuum of care. Both the male residents and the female residents will have the option of attending a 30-day program, 60-day program or a minimum 90-day program. Some of the features of our programs are listed below.
Whether you're someone's sister, brother, mother or father, drug and alcohol abuse affects everyone. Get your loved one the help that he or she needs. You CAN live a life of sobriety. We're here to help when you're ready to stop enabling. Once you realize that your loved one can’t make a decision in their highest good, you will have to make that decision for them. Programs (Overview):
The 12 Steps
Our women residents will have a completely different experience in their stay at The Mark Houston Recovery Center for Women. We believe in the holistic, powerful, spiritual experience available through the 12 step process and will guide our residents through that process based on their length of stay with us. Having had a spiritual experience as a result of this step work, your loved one will have a strong foundation leading towards permanent recovery.
Life Skills
In addition to working all of the steps, your loved one will be taught life skills and practices that are crucial to her recovery such as: nutrition, physical exercise, meditation, impulse control, communication skills, financial sanity, awareness of others, giving back to the community and her family, as well as spiritual laws which impact how she has been living her life. Last, but most importantly, your loved one will develop a personal relationship with her Higher Power, which will help to promote inner peace and a sense of well-being.
Spiritual Laws
We introduce all of our residents to a set of Spiritual Laws which govern our world. If we know how these work, we can use them for our highest good. During our Female resident's stay with us, we will teach your loved one how these laws have created the life she is currently experiencing, and we will discuss how she can re-create her life in recovery.
Fitness
Our residents work out in an on-site gym. Muscular strength, endurance, and cardio-respiratory integrity are the areas we seek to improve in our fitness program. Under the guidance of a female personal trainer, our residents will learn the connection between a healthy, sound, physical body and sobriety. The attainment and maintenance of physical fitness, coupled with a nutritious diet and reasonable rest patterns, require dedication to a long-term, systematic investment in an active life. All workouts are supervised by a certified personal trainer five days a week.
The Four Agreements
The Four Agreements introduce a simple, but powerful code of conduct for attaining personal freedom and true happiness. A discipline to recover the awareness of your authentic self, it has proven invaluable to anyone who is ready to leave suffering behind and master the art of living in our natural state. The Four Agreements are a tool for transformation, leading you to stop judging yourself, focusing instead on beginning to practice a new way of life.
The Life Changing Experience
Through the process of the holistic, spiritual based 12 step work; the daily schedule and structure; accountability; nutritional and physical exercise daily and consistently; meditation; and becoming responsible and empowered, our female residents will have a life changing experience that will bring about permanent sobriety and an abundant life. It will all depend on their honesty, willingness to let go of old ideas and belief systems, and a desire to take responsibility for their lives.
